REVIEW USDr. Kerns is a proud native Texan, born in Austin and raised in Round Rock. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, along with a minor in Sociology, from Abilene Christian University. She later received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University, where she also served on the boards of several national student organizations. During her undergraduate and graduate training, she had the privilege of taking part in medical mission trips to Guatemala —experiences that deepened her passion for helping others.
After medical school, Dr. Kerns completed a comprehensive residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Denver Health Hospital, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in Rearfoot and Reconstructive Surgery with Kentuckiana Foot and Ankle Specialists. This specialized training gave her extensive experience in treating a wide variety of conditions, with a focus on flatfoot reconstruction, sports injuries, ankle arthroscopy, hindfoot deformity correction, ankle replacement, arthritis management, bunion correction, and diabetic limb salvage.
Now back home in Texas, Dr. Kerns is excited to care for her community by providing thoughtful, individualized treatment for a full range of foot and ankle concerns. She believes that every patient’s story is unique and takes time to create personalized care plans that fit each person’s needs and lifestyle. She is Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). To ensure she continues offering the best care possible, she regularly attends conferences and training sessions to stay up to date with the latest techniques.
Outside of work, you’ll often find Dr. Kerns lifting weights at the gym or spending time at home with her fiancé and their 140 pound dog, Ranger—usually catching up on a good TV show.
