Originally from Medellín, Colombia, Dr. Richard Perez grew up in Florida and earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from The Florida State University. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University and completed advanced postgraduate residency and fellowship training in comprehensive foot and ankle care at Broadlawns Medical Center. Dr. Perez is board certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He has also served as an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.Dr. Perez has lectured nationally on evidence-based foot and ankle care, with a focus on optimizing clinical protocols, leveraging technology, and improving patient outcomes through thoughtful, conservative treatment strategies.His clinical practice focuses on the non-surgical treatment of foot and ankle pain, with particular expertise in heel pain, including plantar fasciitis, Achilles-related disorders, overuse injuries, and sports-related foot conditions. Dr. Perez has a strong interest in diagnosing the underlying biomechanical causes of pain and developing personalized treatment plans that emphasize long-term relief and functional recovery without surgery.Dr. Perez’s treatment philosophy is centered on conservative, patient-focused care. He prioritizes non-operative solutions whenever possible and tailors each care plan using the latest medical research and clinical guidelines to help patients return to daily activities comfortably and safely. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.Dr. Perez lives in San Antonio’s Lone Star neighborhood.
